Technology Alliances

Joint initiatives between the public and private sectors and academia involve the cooperation of external organizations with first-class researchers in our research projects.  These allow MCC to establish early research collaborations with the University and its corporate partners in other industries.

Mitsubishi Chemical Center for Advanced Materials

MCC announced a major research alliance with the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in February 2001 to create new technologies based on functional materials.  Funding of $15M was provided over a 5-year period and this represents the largest sponsorship by a corporation of research at UCSB.  Multi-disciplinary research is conducted within the new Mitsubishi Chemical Center of Advanced Materials (MC-CAM) at UCSB under the Directorship of Professor Glenn Fredrickson.
The present location for MC-RIC was established in April 2002 to capitalize on the proximity to UCSB for the collaboration.
